Il professor Gabriele Capurso è Responsabile di Unità Funzionale di Ricerca Clinica presso l’Unità Operativa di Endoscopia Biliopancreatica ed Ecoendoscopia dell’IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele diretta dal dottor Paolo Arcidiacono ed è il Vice Direttore del Centro per la Ricerca e Cura sulle Malattie del Pancreas del San Raffaele.
Dopo la laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia nel 1997 e la specializzazione in Gastroenterologia ed Endoscopia Digestiva nel 2001 presso l’Università “Sapienza” di Roma dove, dopo aver svolto per alcuni anni ricerca di base sulle Neoplasie del Pancreas a Londra, consegue il dottorato di ricerca in Oncologia Digestiva nel 2004.
Il prof. Capurso è esperto di malattie del pancreas e si occupa di coordinare le attività cliniche e di ricerca sui pazienti con malattie del pancreas sia infiammatorie (pancreatiti) sia neoplastiche (lesioni cistiche, tumori del pancreas, neoplasie endocrine).
Il prof. ha inoltre partecipato alla stesura delle linee guida italiane ed europee su pancreatite acuta, pancreatite cronica, neoplasie cistiche del pancreas e tumori del pancreas.
Dal punto di vista dell’attività di ricerca, il prof. Capurso si occupa di ricerca clinica e traslazionale sulle patologie pancreatiche. È autore e coautore di più di 190 pubblicazioni su riviste scientifiche di settore e capitoli di libri. Il suo H index è 36. Partecipa costantemente a congressi nazionali ed internazionali del settore.
