Information
Foreign Citizens living in Italy may use the Italian Health Service, according to the Law 6 March 1998 n. 40 on presentation of the following documents:
- EU Citizens:
- form E111
issued by Health Insurance Scheme in Country of residence
- Non EU Citizens:
- health assistance card
issued by ASL (Local Health Autorithy) of present residence or domicile
In absence of the necessary documentation Foreign Citizens may utilize the National Health Service in the following instances:
- - need for urgent treatment, also when long-term
- pregnancy and maternity (until the child is 6 months old)
- less than 18 years old
- vaccinations, international prophylaxis, diagnosis and
treatment of infectious diseases
